He was born on October 25, 1950, in La Crosse, to Frederick and Margaret (Weltner) Davenport. He was a 1968 graduate of La Crosse Central High School, where he participated in basketball, and received his degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Tom worked for the Department of Defense for over 22 years teaching high school for armed services families in Europe. He enjoyed watching basketball and also served as a basketball and baseball coach while teaching. Tom loved living in Europe and traveling and was also an accomplished pilot.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Ashley Davenport of Pathfork, Ky.; brothers, John Davenport of Mindoro and James Davenport of La Crosse; niece and nephew, Teresa and Travis Davenport; and his soul mate and best friend, Mila Lebedeva of Moscow, Russia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4th, at 3:00 p.m., at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services-La Crosse Chapel located at 200 West Ave. So. Rev. Duane Baardseth will officiate. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery will take place at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
