Charles Andrew Hund of La Crescent, Minnesota, age 87, passed away in his home on Sunday, September 20th, surrounded by the family he loved, supported, and cherished. He was born on July 18, 1939, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Harrison and Eloise (Mullen) Hund, the youngest of three children.

After graduating from Mankato High School, Chuck enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a machinist's mate on the USS Intrepid and as a plank owner of the USS Kitty Hawk from 1957 to 1962.

He married Lois (Bleess) on August 26, 1967, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, and spent 59 years amazed by the beauty and generosity of her love. They were blessed with six children and a family that often expanded far beyond their home, as friends and neighbors quickly became welcome family.

Chuck worked as a maintainer for Crown, Cork and Seal, first in Mankato, Minnesota, and then transferred to La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1979, for a total of 41 years. He loved the outdoors and spent years fishing and hunting, passing this tradition on to his children and wife. He was often found at home enjoying a crossword, sudoku, jigsaw puzzle, or playing trash with his grandkids over a cup of coffee. He also loved to go for walks in an attempt to get in more steps than Lois on any given day.

Chuck cherished time around the family dinner table, often noisy and filled with stories, games, and music. He loved watching hockey, especially the Minnesota North Stars and the Wild. He had a contagious smile and a laugh that often brought him to tears. He was an avid storyteller and shared his love of classic Motown, Rock & Roll, and anything with great rhythm.

He was an active member of the Church of the Crucifixion, serving as an eucharistic minister, choir member, and volunteer. He was a member of La Crescent American Legion Post 595, Friends of the La Crescent Public Library, Faithfully Fit, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

The family extends deep gratitude to Dr. Peter Franta for years of dedicated healthcare, the staff at St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate attention in his final days, the La Crescent Caregivers Group for their support, Father John Evans, and the many friends and family who offered support.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years and their six children: Victoria (Todd) Trailer of Brice Prairie, Wisconsin; Roman (Hilary) Hund of St. Paul, Minnesota; Andrew (Anne) Hund of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jennifer (Stephen Carlsen) Hund of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Emily (Eric) Dykman of La Crescent, Minnesota; and Harrison (Jennifer) Hund of La Crosse, Wisconsin. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Denali (Tyler) Blom; Dawson Trailer; McKinlie Trailer; Halle (Jonathan Crouser) Hund; Charles Hund, Henry Hund, Finnegan Hund, Nolan Hund, Nathaniel Carlsen, Luka Vergoz, Jacob Dykman, Lucas Dykman, Eloise Dykman, Haylee Vejvoda, and Jackson Hund. He is great-grandfather to Easton Andrew Oens.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother William Hund, sister Margaret (Peg) Bissonnette, and son Charles John Hund.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm with a Rosary service at 7:00pm, Friday, September 25, 2026 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, La Crescent, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Church of the Crucifixion in La Crescent. Visitation will begin at 10:00am with a family eulogy beginning at 10:45am. Burial will follow Mass at Crucifixion Cemetery.
