Cynthia “Cindy” A. Sacia, 72, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
Cindy was born on February 4, 1954, and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1972. After graduation, she remained in La Crosse for several years. In 1986, she moved to New Canaan, CT, for a year, where she enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. She later moved to Madison, WI, before eventually settling again in La Crosse.
Cindy worked as a pharmacy technician for more than 40 years and took great pride in the knowledge and experience she gained throughout her career. Known for her fiercely independent spirit, she also deeply valued time spent with family. She made it a point to visit her sister and brother-in-law every weekend for a game of cribbage or to bake something delicious. Cindy was always on the lookout for a new dessert or recipe to try.
A passionate fan of the NFL and NBA, Cindy frequently watched games with her nephews. She also enjoyed competing in softball leagues in La Crosse. Cindy loved playing pool and participated in leagues for many years, earning “Player of the Week” honors multiple times this past season. She especially enjoyed friendly competition on the pool table with her nephew, Dylan, and took great delight in the times she managed to beat him. A bit of luck also seemed to be on her side, as she won big several times on scratch-off tickets.
As an animal lover, Cindy found joy in caring for pets and was always happy to dog-sit for family and friends. Her warmth and kindness extended to every animal she met.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Harmon and Lucille (Wakeen) Sacia. She is survived by her sister, Nancy (Joseph) Neitzel of Holmen, WI; her brother, John Sacia (Rob) of Madison, WI; her nephews Nicholas McHugh of Holmen, WI, Brandon (Megan) McHugh of Lakeville, MN, Adam (Michelle) McHugh of West Salem, WI, and Dylan Neitzel of La Crosse, WI; and six great-nieces and nephews: Briell and Preston McHugh, Camden and Clayton Babiash, and Jameson and Logan Lucille McHugh.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Cindy on Tuesday, May 19, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home in Onalaska. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 20, at 11:00 AM, with burial immediately following at Green Mound Cemetery, Holmen WI.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
