Daniel "Dan" G. Althoff

Daniel G. “Dan” Althoff, 61, of La Crosse, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Dan was born to Leo and Elizabeth “Betty” Althoff. He was united in marriage to Maxine Thoeny on April 26, 2003 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. This union celebrated 23 years.

Dan worked at the Kwik Trip Bakery in sanitation and at Monet Floral before health issues forced early retirement. Dan enjoyed both of these jobs. Dan was a faithful member of Onalaska Church of Christ where he served in different capacities at the church. He especially enjoyed Bible Study. Dan enjoyed spending time with friends, family, and Joey the dog, who is a rescue animal.

Dan is survived by his wife Maxine, his mother Betty, his sisters, Jane (Bob) Guggenbuehl, and Susie (Dale) Jackson, his brothers, Patrick, and David (Paula) Althoff, his sisters-in-law Barb (Bruce) Linberg, Pam Seltrecht, and Emily Thoeny. Dan is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father Leo, his father and mother-in-law, Rodney and Inez Thoeny, Ben Seltrecht, and his sister-in-law, Joan Thoeny.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Onalaska Church of Christ. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
