Daniel A. Hundt, age 72 of La Crosse, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. He was born May 15, 1954 in La Crosse, the son of Arthur and Cecelia Hundt.
Dan graduated from Central High School in La Crosse, class of 1972. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1976. He also furthered his computer science degree by completing a certificate from T.C. in La Crosse. Dan worked for 42 years at the City Brewery and retired in 2018.
Dan was a member of several local organizations—Everybody Can Dance LLC, Central Booster Club and Central Alumni for 30 years. He was also a member of LCCA and traveled to many conventions over the years. He also loved traveling with his family. Some memorable trips include going to Disney and a Panama Canal cruise. Whether traveling on a cruise or building model trains, being with his family was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed going to Central girls’ basketball games with his kids.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie (Eloda), whom he married on April 15, 1978; his son, Chris (Rachel) Hundt; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Laurie (Todd) Jordan; sister, Jeanne Keyser; sister, Audrey (Dave) Growt; niece, Melissa Growt; niece, Kimberly (Dien) Ly and their son Nicholas; and beloved favorite cat, Rudy (Rudolph).
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Cecelia; daughter, Amanda Hundt; brother-in-law, Stephen; and in-laws, Romey and Mildred Bendel.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm, Friday, May 22, 2026 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 907 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska, WI 54650 and from 9:00-10:30am, Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the funeral home. A prayer service will follow at 10:30am. A private burial will take place. The family will announce a celebration of life in the future.
