Daniel M. Weinberger, a God-fearing gentleman, devoted husband, and loving father, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at the age of 88 on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Born on February 27, 1938, to James and Marie (Bauer) Weinberger of LeRoy, Wisconsin, Dan was the second youngest of ten children and went on to become the proud father of ten children, whom he cherished deeply and raised with unwavering love and strong Catholic values.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sharon A. (Fitzgerald) Weinberger, siblings Mary Ann Davel and Alex Weinberger, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Weinberger, and siblings, James Jr., Rita, Robert, Norbert, Carl, Leon, and Thomas.
Together, Dan and Sharon built a remarkable family. He is survived by his beloved children: Michael Weinberger, Heidi Weinberger, Melissa Jacobson, Chris (Anja) Weinberger, Daniel (Lisa) Weinberger, David (Nikki) Weinberger, Patrick (Tammy) Weinberger, Suzanne Weinberger, Kelly (Mike) Jakes, and John (Jamie) Weinberger; grandchildren: Sara (Andy) Kastantin, Danielle (Tyler) Myer, Jose (Julie) Weinberger, Connor Mruz, Matthew Jacobson, Emily Jacobson, Tomas Weinberger, Allison Weinberger, Gavin Weinberger, Alex Weinberger, Levina Weinberger, Maya Weinberger, Julia Jakes, Aubrey Jakes, and Ellyana Jakes; and great-grandchildren: Nora Kastantin and Damian Kastantin, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of faith, love of family, and service to community.
A devout Catholic, Dan’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was president of the Lions Club, Markesan Chapter, taking initiative by spearheading the funding of St. Joseph Catholic Church, also in Markesan. Dan was the founder of Country Boy Supermarket, where he was known for his award-winning sausage. Dan was an avid gardener who truly enjoyed sharing the fruits of his hard work with family, friends, and the community.
To truly know Dan was to know him as a family man. Vince Lombardi famously stated, "Think of only three things: your God, your family, and the Green Bay Packers—in that order." Dan appreciated this quote nearly as much as he admired the man who said it. His life was not measured by wealth or accolades but by the family and people he loved, served, fed, and inspired through his devotion. Dan leaves behind a family rooted in faith, hard work, laughter, and most importantly, love—values he lived by every day.
