Danny L. Iverson, 69 of Sparta, passed away on Thursday, March 27th at Mayo Hospital in La Crosse surrounded by family.
Danny was the youngest of four children of Archie Iverson and Beverly Iverson (Bloss). After Danny graduated from Logan High School, he worked at North La Crosse Lumber Company for a short time before going to work for the La Crosse School District. While working for the School District, he was elected President of S.E.I.U. Local 21. After time he moved to Milwaukee, WI to be a Business Agent for S.E.I.U. Local 150. This move for Danny meant a long career in the union movement. He also after time became the President of S.E.I.U. Local 150. He was President of the state council, which was several of the S.E.I.U. International Executive Board, in Washington D.C. for many years. When Danny retired he was business representative of S.E.I.U. Local 1 out of Chicago.
Danny lived in the Milwaukee area for about 40 years. He loved his time living on the east side. In Danny’s younger years, he loved going duck hunting and fishing with his grandpa “Ole” by Buffalo City. Danny loved to go deer hunting so much he bought land not far from Humbird, WI. He also had a house built on the land, so the deer crew could hunt in comfort.
Danny married Sue Wehling and later divorced. They had one daughter, Amy Iverson.
Danny is survived by brothers, Kenneth Iverson (Laura) of La Crosse, WI, Gary Iverson (Mary) or Lantana, TX; sister, Gail Nelson (Cliff) of Sparta, WI; daughter, Amy Iverson of La Crosse, WI; grandsons, Connor and Colin Iverson of Madison, WI; nephews, Michael Iverson of Lantana, TX, Jeffrey Iverson of Denver, NC.
Danny was preceded in death by both of his parents, Archie and Beverly.
The family of Danny Iverson would like to thank the staff at Mayo Hospital 4C and the I.C.U. on 4C for the great and compassionate care of Danny.
The family will have a private family funeral at a later date.
