Donald L. Walters

Donald L. Walters, age 85, finished his life on this earth and entered his heavenly home on October 27.

Don was born at St. Anne’s Hospital in La Crosse to Dorothy (Lenser) and Virgil Walters. He was baptised at St. Peters Hamburg, and confirmed at St. Peters Chaseburg. He grew up in the Stoddard/Chaseburg area and attended various one-room elementary schools. He graduated from Central High School. He married Judy Schlicht at St. Matthews Stoddard, and they spent 56 years together until her passing in 2021. They have three children - Nancy (Tony), Marcia (Serhan), and Rick (Holly) and four grandchildren, Nick, Jake, William, and Sophia.

Don served in the Wisconsin National Guard. As a young adult he played softball for the Trane and tavern leagues in La Crosse. He was a member of the Trane 25 year club. Don retired from the Trane company after 45 years. He then enjoyed working for Skipperliner.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, several cousins, and two sisters, Janet and Janice.

Services will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church on Thursday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. There will be a private family burial. Schumacher Kish funeral home is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or School.
