Donna Jean Schroeder, 86, of Onalaska, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Sparta, WI on June 30, 1939 to David and Jean (Lower) Crocker, Sr. She married Roger Schroeder on February 9, 1959 in Norwalk, WI. Donna was a “Farmer’s Valley girl”. She loved her family, horses, bird watching, flowers, gardening and Elvis. Donna and Roger were inseparable - fishing and taking drives in the convertible were some of her favorite past times that they shared. She also loved decorating for all of the holidays and going on the hunt for her Christmas tree. Donna had worked for several years at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital.
She is survived by her husband Roger; seven children, Debbie (Duane) Westlie, Mark (Julie) Schroeder, Dan (Bonita) Schroeder, Jeff (Pam) Schroeder, Lynn (Carl) McKeeth, Lori (Dan) Kippola, and Michelle (Loren) Schwier; 19 grandchildren, Tegan (Nate) Counihan, Tanya (Bryce) Haessly, Jeremy (Val) Schroeder, Jordan Schroeder, Jackie (Craig) Mathews), Alexis Holthaus, Sami (Neil) Driscoll, Craig Schroeder, Asher Schroeder, Taylor (Joe) Newbury, Bradi Derginer, Landon (Kati) Derginer, Carlynn (Ben) Meyer, Taryn (Craig) Tidquist, Cadyn (Alyssa) McKeeth, Mattea McKeeth, Jessica (Collin) Radke, Lee (Taylor) Schwier, Angie (William) Schwier; and 31 great-grandchildren, Klayton Counihan, Karter Counihan, Elouise Counihan, Esai Biehle, Trexon Haessly, Otto Haessly, Eviana Haessly, Ada Haessly, Eleanor Wilmink, Ingrid Wilmink, Eli Schroeder, Jalen Schroeder, Archer Mathews, Wilder Mathews, Ferris Holthaus, DJ Holthaus, Peyton Derginer, Alexis Meyer, Jackson Meyer, Zoey Meyer, Hunter Meyer, Lyden Tidquist, Rainalyn Tidquist, Westyn Tidquist, Cara McKeeth, Maya McKeeth, Max McKeeth, June Radke, Virginia Radke, Rosalee Radke, and Ira Radke. She is also survived by a sister Sharon (Jerry) Dockerty, brother-in-law Jerry Schroeder, and sister-in-law Donna Mae (Gary) Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, David Crocker Jr. and Jim Crocker, a sister, Patty Dechant, a brother-in-law, Harold Dechant, and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Schroeder.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 PM at the Onalaska American Legion, 731 Sand Lake Road. A service will be held beginning at 12:00 Noon.
