Dylan Richard Brown

October 16, 1984 — March 20, 2026

La Crosse

Dylan Richard Brown passed away at his home in La Crosse, Wisconsin on the morning of Friday, March 20, 2026—the first day of spring. He was forty-one years old.

Born to his parents, Richard W. Brown and Robin Kay (Teaser) Roush, in La Crosse, on October 16, 1984, he grew up in both La Crosse and Onalaska.

His interests were varied and deeply important to him. Sports and physical competition held a crucial place during his life, especially in childhood. He was involved in the martial arts for some years, receiving his first-degree black belt in 1997. Even in the final months of his life, Dylan often conveyed a deep sense of pride over that achievement. During his early teens, he also played halfback at Lincoln Middle School, and quickly became known for his speed and ability to “juke” potential tacklers.

His commitment to sports shifted from participant to fan in later years, when he followed MMA, boxing, and, with great devotion, his absolute favorite pro football team, the Detroit Lions. For those of us who knew and loved Dylan, it will be forever difficult to hear mention of an upcoming Lions game on autumn Sundays without thinking of him.

He also had a deep interest in history, especially as presented in the forms of film (“Band of Brothers” being a particular favorite) and televised documentary. And he loved music, both that of his own generation and personal experience, and some older tunes and groups as well.

The line between blood family and deep friendship was often blurred for him. He held equal regard for, and undying loyalty toward, his entire community of closeness—parents and step-parents; stepchildren; step- and half-siblings; grandparents now long deceased; his closest buddies; former loves; past co-workers; his beloved dog, Capone, and so many more.

The outpouring of support and offers of help from everyone in the wake of his passing is greatly appreciated by his parents and those closest to him, and it will always be remembered. Please know that he loved every one of you.

A celebration of Dylan’s life will be held on April 3, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Schumacher-Kish funeral home, located at 200 West Avenue South, in La Crosse. Memorials may be given to the Coulee Council on Addiction
