Elizabeth "Liz" Stiehm

May 30, 1958 — October 1, 2025

La Crosse, WI

Elizabeth “Liz” Stiehm, 67, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home on October 1, 2025 surrounded by her daughters. She was born on May 30, 1958, in Seward, Alaska, to Arlen Thomas and Lois Stahl.

Liz spent many years working as a waitress in Alaska and Wisconsin, where her kindness, wit, and hardworking spirit made her loved by coworkers and customers alike. Those who knew her best will remember her as a strong, tough woman with a sense of humor, a heart full of care and generosity. She always went all out for her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. She had a natural wisdom that guided her family through life’s challenges.

She enjoyed cooking, hosting barbecues, joking around with loved ones, and spending time surrounded by family. Liz had a special love for pig figurines, wildlife, and the beauty of nature. Liz enjoyed spending time in her tiny home and was most happy when family came to visit her. She lived her life with warmth and humor and found peace knowing her family would continue to live happily, as she always wished for them.

Liz is survived by her mother, Lois Hunter-Stahl; her children, Laticia Soper, Desiree Wolter, Melissa Soper, and Cameron Stiehm; her many grandchildren; her great-granddaughter; and siblings, Dorothy, Amanda, and Louis “Lou”.

Liz was preceded in death by her former husband, David Stiehm.

Service details will be determined at a later date.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memories and love will continue to live on in our hearts.
