Everett "Bud" George Peterson Jr. passed away in his home surrounded by family on Thursday, October 8th, 2026. Everett was born to Lillian and Everett Peterson Sr. On March 31st, 1947, in Poplar, WI as the youngest of three siblings, where his family nicknamed him Bud. At the age of 21, he married his life partner, Kathleen (Kathy) on October 19th, 1968. They had 1 child together, Shelley, born in 1970. Bud and Kathy met when his parents lived in Genoa, where both he and his father worked at the power plant. Some may have known his as "Pete". They later moved to Prior Lake, MN where Bud had many small jobs before settling with driving semi for Yellow. He, also, served on the volunteer fire department for many years. In 1995 they built their home in Onalaska, WI. Bud continued driving semi for U.S.F Holland, until his retirement. After they both retired they decided to winter in Fort Mohave, AZ, eventually selling their home and living in their 5th wheel trailer for many years. They called Lake Neshonic Campground of West Salem their home in the summers. Bud worked as a maintenance man for the campground for many years, as well.
Bud was a jack of all trades. He spent many hours keeping the lawn fixed up, wood working, four wheeling, golfing, bowling, traveling, and making so many memories with family and friends. He would give his shirt off his back to help everyone and anyone. And he was never a stranger to anyone he met. He was an avid Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Gophers and NASCAR fan and you could often catch him watching a game or race. Some of his most cherished times were with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter, Kaitlyn.
While in Arizona this past winter, Bud was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. Good friends Jeanne and Dave and Bob and Lynne where there for support through the beginning stages. They traveled back to WI and found a place to call home for his final moments of his life. Bud spent his final summer often visiting with many family and friends as they came to visit.
Bud is survived by his wife, Kathy; Granddaughter, Kaitlyn Meyer and her significant other Cody Morris; Sister, Donna Nelson; Sister-in-law Marla (Tom) Breidel, Many special nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins, and Many special friends including (but not limited to) the Lake Neshonic Campground neighbors and crew, the Friends who became like family in AZ, the Oktoberfest Races camping crew and so many more.
Bud is proceeded in death by his parents, Lillian and Everett, Sr., his daughter, Shelley; sister, Arlene Schroeder; Mother-in-law, Hilda Dahlke and father-in-law, Irv Dahlke.
We as a family would like to thank all the friends and family who have provided love, support, and assistance throughout this whole process. Every piece of it is appreciated beyond words. A special thanks to the Agrace Hospice care team, especially his nurse Matt and the Schumacher-Kish staff, who helped them arrange everything Bud wished for.
