Gary L. Kosen

Gary L. Kosen, age 82 of Dakota, Minn., passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, at his beloved farm. He was born March 19, 1941, in La Crosse, Wis. to the late Elmer and Doris Kosen. He married Jane “Pee-Wee” M. Schurz on November 14, 1964, in La Crosse and together they spent thirty-seven years until her passing on June 11, 2002. Gary drove Caterpillars as a heavy equipment operator for International Union of Operating Engineers Local #49ers until his retirement. He enjoyed running his farm with his wife, fishing, hunting, trapping with his father, and collecting firearms. His many furry companions over the years always held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Kosen and Tammy (Steve) Mueller; grandchildren, Joshua Rackow, Adrianna (Joshua) Hongerholt and their children Henry and Della, Carl (Kiarra) Rackow and their children Skarlyte, Octavious, and a baby girl on the way, Janieann Rackow, Mariah Mueller, and Shane Mueller; sister, Janice (Richard) Johansen; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon at the funeral home
