Gary M. Pampuch

Gary M. Pampuch of La Crosse passed away at home on Saturday, September 6, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 25, 1947, to Roman and Helen (Killian) Pampuch. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1965.

After college at UWL he went on to proudly serve his country as an EM3 in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Hornet, during the Apollo 11 and 12 recovery missions. Gary returned to La Crosse after active duty in the Navy to work as an engineer on the Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired after 37 years.

Gary is survived by his wife, Linda (Pitzner); daughter, Angela (Bruce) Steinhoff; son, Kevin (Jennifer) Pampuch; grandchildren, Kallie and Josh; and step granddaughter, Kierstyn Torres.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, September 12, 2025, at St. James the Less Catholic Church in La Crosse. Fr. Robert Letona will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church.
