George Edward Kleinhaus

George Edward Kleinhaus, 83, passed away on February 6, 2026, in La Crosse, Wisconsin-the city where he was born on April 25, 1942 to parents George and Gladys Kleinhaus. His life was deeply rooted in the community he called home from beginning to end.

George dedicated much of his professional life to the railroad industry, where he served as a yardmaster. Known for his strong work ethic and attention to detail, he took pride in his role and left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him. While working and raising three children, George also attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and earned a place on the dean's list.

Outside of his career, George enjoyed woodworking, often spending hours crafting with care and precision. He also found joy in golf and boating—activities that brought him both relaxation and camaraderie. Whether on the green or out on the water, he embraced these moments with enthusiasm.

Affectionately known as "Sweet Tooth" by his grandchildren, the nickname reflected not only his fondness for treats but also the warmth and affection he shared with them. George loved life fully and was surrounded by many friends who cherished his company.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy for 65 years; his son Jack (Karin); grandchildren Olivia, Aleyna, Mark, Michael (and wife CoryAnn, and their sons Nathaniel and George), and Matthew; sisters, Karen Prestwood and Loretta Delagrave; sister-and-brother-in-law Joan (husband Larry) Celius; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Gladys; his sons Scott and Paul; daughter Kathy; sisters Myrtle Draveing and Margie Nelson; and brother Jack Kleinhaus.

A man of enduring character and quiet strength, George will be remembered for the joy he brought into everyday life. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
