Gerald H. Arenz

Gerald H. Arenz, age 85, of La Crosse, WI, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at his home. He was born March 4, 1940 in La Crosse, WI, the son of Ervin and Leona (Hundt) Arenz. Gerald was happily married to his best friend, Marilyn (Lehman) Arenz, for 48 years and they had three children.

Gerald graduated from Aquinas High School, Class of 1958, he was employed with American Motors for 11 years in his earlier days, and retired in 2001 with the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse after spending 32 years of dedicated service.

Gerald was a hardworking man who always had a project underway. He cherished camping with his family and their summer vacations to Rice Lake. He especially enjoyed casino trips to Las Vegas, tractor pulls, country music, NASCAR racing, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and above all, time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Lori (Chris Harris) Arenz of La Crosse: Kimberly Arenz of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Tara Arenz; Ashley (Jordan Olmstead) Ruppel; and Nicholas Ruppel; great grandchildren, Kiarra Arenz; Mikey Markos; Bentley Werner; Callan Olmstead, three great-great grandchildren, sisters and a brother, and many good friends.

Preceding Gerald in death are his wife, Marilyn in 2012; his son, Kevin in 1987; his parents, Ervin Arenz and Leona (Hundt) Arenz; and his brothers Michael Arenz, Lloyd Arenz and sister, Patty Arenz.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse, WI, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Deacon Bob Zietlow will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Catholic Cemetery.
