Gerald C. Grossbach, 87, died on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health System/Franciscan Health Care in La Crosse with his daughter by his side.

Jerry was born on January 10, 1938 to Carl and Ermal (Hayes) Grossbach. On November 29, 1958 he married Elaine (Bashaw) Campbell. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage, before her death in 2015.

Gerald is survived by his children: Cathey (John) Schroeder, Carla (Phil) Easterday, both of La Crosse WI, Timothy (Lisa) Grossbach of Littleton CO and Terrence (Beth) Grossbach of Holmen WI; 8 grandchildren: Robert (Lauren Petersen) Schroeder, Christopher Schroeder, Philip Gleason, Erika (Ben) Kampschnieder, Lexi Grossbach and Allyson (Matt Frank), Scott and Madelynn Grossbach; 6 great grandchildren: Noah and Zachary Schroeder; Lily Schroeder, Emersen, Hunter and Colt Kampschnieder. 3 brothers in-laws: John Bashaw, Tom Bashaw and Peter Bashaw, 1 sister in-law: MaryAnn Bashaw and a special family member: Renee Druliner. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Elaine; parents: Milton and Ermal Stoll and Carl Grossbach; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Von and Kathleen McConnell; and 1 brother: Jimmy; 6 sister in-laws: Sister Barbara Bashaw O.S.B., Evelyn Kramer, Grace Bashaw, Pam Bashaw, Lois Bashaw and Susan Gallagher; 5 brother in-laws: Robert, Paul and Daniel Bashaw, Clarence Kramer and Gerald McConnell; and his grandson: Keith Gerald Gleason.

Jerry graduated high school from Central in 1955. He received an honorary discharge in 1964 after serving 8 years in the Naval Reserve. He worked at Super Value, St. Thomas Catholic Church and Dairyland Power. He was a "Jack of all Trades"

Jerry loved watching his grandchildren play sports and he was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed golfing and golfed in several Men's leagues along with a Friday night couples league that he and Elaine loved playing in. He even landed himself two Hole-in-One's! Jerry was also an avid bowler. He bowled in several Men's bowling leagues, beginning with his Uncle Mickey at South Lanes. Jerry was a really good bowler with bowling a perfect 300 game. He also hunted and taught his sons how and loved hunting with them. He also played softball in his younger years and pitched pumpkin ball for the Tosa Club. As a teen he liked to box. Jerry and Elaine loved traveling to Colorado to visit Tim, Lisa and Lexi. They also became fans of the Casinos. Jerry was very proud of achieving 34 years of sobriety. His biggest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends; he loved having his children and grandchildren come over. Jerry will be most remembered for his love of family, his good humor, personality, wit and his joy of life. He is loved by all and will truly be missed.

Visitation will be from 9-11AM, Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Mary, Mother of the Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM. Burial will follow at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.
