Gerald LaVerne Strittmater (87) of Onalaska, WI passed away on June 11th, 2026 after experiencing a massive stroke.

Gerald was born on April 15th, 1939 to Harold & Gladys Strittmater in La Crosse, WI. He attended both Aquinas and La Crosse Central before enlisting in the United States Army in 1957. After serving in Germany, he came back to La Crosse to earn a Bachelor’s degree in History and Education at Wisconsin State University - La Crosse ( UW-La Crosse) After graduation, he landed his first education job as a Teacher and reading specialist at Logan middle school in La Crosse, He continued his Education and completed his Masters in school administration from UW-La Crosse, leading to a 25 year career in education.

In 1960 Gerald met Marlene, and they wed on October 28, 1961, going on to have 2 children.

After retiring from education in 1993, Gerald spent 10 years working at Trane company in La Crosse. He loved spending time with his children, grandkids, brothers, sisters, and friends. He enjoyed playing euchre and bowling, going to Brewer games and watching the Packers.

Gerald was predeceased by his wife, Marlene: parents Harold and Gladys: brothers Wayne, Kenny, and Ronald and sister Elizabeth.

He is survived by daughters Danielle Bathke and Shayna (Jeff) Lund Grandchildren Samantha, Dylan, Eric, Avery, and Keedan. Several great grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.
