Hazel M. Tyler

Hazel Tyler passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025 at Eaglecrest South in La Crosse at the age of 90.

She was born Hazel Margaret Scarseth on September 26, 1934 to Edwin and Alice (Bibby) Scarseth in La Crosse and was the eldest of three children. She was a 1952 graduate of Logan High School and shortly after started her long career at Lutheran Hospital.

On November 8,1952 she was united in marriage to Leslie W. Tyler and he preceded her in death on August 5, 1997.

Hazel is survived by her five children: Cathy (Don) Flynn, Tucson, AZ, Douglas (Akiyo) Tyler, Oak Harbor, WA, Jayne (Frank) Bissen, La Crosse, WI, Kris (Randy) Wells, Hastings, MI and Joan (Steve) Zielke, Onalaska, WI. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, her sister: Ruth Baird, and brother: Tom Scarseth. Other surviving relatives include sisters and brothers in law: Betty Tyler, Dorothy Ritter, Sherry Tyler, Linda Wieczorek, Milt Tyler and Paul (Elaine) Tyler and many nieces and nephews. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband: Leslie Tyler, son-in-law: Dennis Hutzler, granddaughter: Chloe Zielke and several sisters and brothers in law.

Hazel was a lifetime member of North Presbyterian Church and services will be held there on Friday, August 1st, 2025 at 11:00am. Pastor Scott Skogen will officiate, and friends and family are invited to visit prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:00am. Burial will follow at the French Island Cemetery.
