Jacqueline Margaret Heal, 94, of Onalaska WI entered eternal life on March 2, 2026. She was born on February 27, 1932, in Viola, WI to Kenneth and Alvina Keach.
Jackie graduated from Kickapoo High School, Viola WI in 1950 where she met Denver during her high school years. She went on to study nursing at St. Francis School of Nursing, graduating with the RN degree in 1953. Jackie began her nursing career at Vernon Memorial Hospital while she and Denver lived in Viroqua. After moving to La Crosse in 1961, Jackie began working at St. Francis Medical Center for 38 years as an OB nurse, then becoming a supervising RN for the hospital, ending her career at St. Francis as an Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse. She then worked for four years at the Visiting Nurses Association before retiring.
After retiring in 1995, Jackie and Denver spent 19 years in Florida enjoying the warm weather, traveling, and their many friends. Jackie had a great sense of humor and loved playing games. Jackie took great joy in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to tell good stories and play dominoes.
Jackie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Denver, after 68 years of marriage; parents, Kenneth and Alvina Keach; her son, Michael; her son-in-law, Tom Berger, and grandson, Adam Berger.
She is survived by her children Mary Berger, Mark (Beth), Richard (Kimberly), John (Marlene), and Tom, and daughter-in-law, Suanne Kraft. She is further survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Parish, 1031 Main Street, Onalaska, WI 54650 or a non-profit charity of your choice in Jackie’s name.
Jackie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Havenwood in Onalaska and Bethany St. Joe’s in La Crosse for their care and kindness to her.
