James Donald Becker

James Becker (67) of La Crosse, WI passed away surrounded by his family on September 21st, 2025.

Jim was born on April 1, 1958, to Donald and Barbara Becker in La Crosse. He graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1976 and from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in 1982, where he was a proud member of Delta Sigma Phi.

He worked for La Crosse County for over 25 years in purchasing and finance and also bartended at Sam’s Bar.

In 1990, Jim married Lori (Wangen), and together they raised two children, Molly and Matt.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Packer Sundays, and the company of his dog, Millie. Above all, he cherished time with family and friends and was always up for good conversation and a beer, whether with someone he loved or someone he’d just met.

Jim was a friend to all, and a brother to many.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara, his wife, Lori, his daughter, Molly, and his son, Matt, with his partner Vanessa. He is also survived by his brother, Ed (Teresa) Becker, his sisters, Barb (Ron) Mysliwiec and Lisa (Dave) Goodwin, his sister-in-law, Tracy (Jay) Gillette, and his brother-in-law, Tony (Deb) Wangen, along with his nieces and nephews, many cousins, his Delta Sigma Phi brothers, and a large circle of friends

Funeral services will be held on Monday September 29th at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. Visitation will go from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the burial at Catholic Cemetery. After the burial, a luncheon will be served at the Moose Lodge in La Crosse. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
