Joan "Jo Ann" M. Pintz

Joan “Jo Ann” M. Pintz, 95, of La Crosse, WI passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Mulder Health Care Center in West Salem. She was born on March 18, 1930 in La Crosse to Joseph and Hazel (Evenson) Kratzer. She graduated from Aquinas High School in 1947. On July 14, 1951 she married John Pintz in Camp Chaffee, AR. She had worked at Trane Co. and in her later years as an Adjudicator for Job Services for the state of Wisconsin, all while raising her eight children. She was an avid quilter and reader. She was also a huge dog lover who gave many dogs a loving home. In retirement her and John enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Hayword, WI, always welcoming family and friends.

She is survived by her eight children John Pintz, Paula (George) Prise, William (Diane) Pintz, Linda (Daniel) Carroll, Susan (Dave) Rhomberg, Jean Pintz Olson, Carla (Robert) Mullins and Mike (Heidi) Pintz; eleven grandchildren George, Jr., Peter, Kristi, Kellie, Tricia, Nick, Sophie, Ben, Grace, Kaitlyn and Emma; five great grandchildren; one great- great grand-daughter, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John on May 4, 2007, sister Mary (Ed) Hale and her great grandmother Margaret (Kratzer) Raseman, who helped raise her.

The family would like to thank special family members Harley Evenson, Debi Thesing, Diane Hubbard and the Hale family for their visits and support during Jo Ann’s recent health issues. Also, a thank you to Mayo Health System 5th floor hospital staff, Aveanna Home Health, Mulders Nursing Home and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Jo Ann.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Pastor Scott Skogen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service.
