John Nee Thao, born on February 26th, 1981, in Milwaukee, WI was sent to his eternal home on June 12th, 2025, in La Crosse, WI due to health complications. He was the beloved son of James Thao and Martha Yang Morehouse. He was the devoted father to Trillin, Trinity, Jasmine, Yohan, Jospeh, Yuki, and stepdaughter Yuri.
John is survived by his loving parents, James and stepmom Pa Thao and Martha and stepfather Stephen Morehouse, his brothers Chai, Henry, and Lucus, his sisters Nue, Shoua, Zong, Ka, Tung, and Melody. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles who adored him dearly. Among them are Eddy and Chong Thao. Not to mention, a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends who shared in his joyful spirit. He was predeceased by his Grandparents, from Dad’s side, Ntxhoo Laug Thoj and Ntxhais Khaab Thoj and from mom’s side, Num Yig Yaaj and Lue Thoj. Also, his aunt Yer Yang.
John was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John found joy in music, dance, and martial arts. His love and talents drew the attention of those that surrounded him. If you knew John, he was ever so passionate about the small things he enjoyed. John also loved the outdoors, especially fishing. This was a reflection of his adventurous and free spirit.
Those who knew John will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, his deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
Although John's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. John, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of the service and also one hour following the service at the funeral home.
