Joseph L. Tschumper

Joseph Leroy Tschumper, 80 years old, of Onalaska, WI, passed away on October 6th 2026, at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital.

Joe was born on September 12, 1946, to Ellen and Joseph Tschumper in La Crosse, WI. After graduating from Central High School, he went on to study accounting at Western Technical College. Joe served in the National Guard as a supply Sergeant in the unit in Onalaska.

After graduation, Joe worked at Cooler Company, and then, for over 40 years, he worked at C&C Machine as the office manager.

Joe was married to Lynn for 50 years until she passed in 2020. Joe was very social in all his AA groups and was part of the La Crosse Rotary before he retired. He has many friends who have visited him for weeks on end while he had been in the hospital.

After retiring, Joe spent countless hours on the property they owned in Stoddard mowing the grass, cutting down trees, and assisting Lynn with all her gardening. Joe also enjoyed helping at the Stoddard Legion. Joe enjoyed going out to eat with all his friends the most.

Joe is survived by his children Jennifer Lewis (Mike) and Gregory Tschumper (Rachel). Grandchildren: Kailey (Daniel) Lewis, Konnor Lewis, Dylan (Jenna) Tschumper, Riley (Tori) Tschumper. Beautiful great- grandchildren, Adeline and Sawyer. Brother, Jerry Tschumper; niece, Cathy (Chris) Tschumper, Elizabeth (Chris) Sirianni, and nephew, Eric Tschumper.

There will be a celebration of life at Schumacher Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave S, La Crosse, WI 54601, on Friday, October 23rd, from 4 pm- 6 pm.
