Judy A. Ostreng

Judy A. Ostreng, 82, of La Crosse, WI, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Caretta Senior Living in Holmen, WI, with her son and daughter by her side.

Judy was born March 16, 1944 to Willard and Delores (Christianson) Bluske and grew up on a dairy farm in rural Chaseburg, Vernon County, WI. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1962.

She married Ronald Ostreng on August 21, 1965 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Chaseburg, WI and moved to the La Crosse, WI area for work and to raise her family.

She worked at Trane Company for 25 years and also worked part-time at Allergy Associates for a number of years. Following her retirement, she generously gave her time volunteering with the Coulee Region Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Red Cross Southwest Wisconsin Chapter, and Good Steward Resale Shop. She was an active member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse, WI, and enjoyed traveling, quilting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Ostreng of La Crosse, WI, son Ryan (Candee) Ostreng of Holmen, WI, and daughter Dana (Fred) Hale of LeRoy, MN.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Reanna (Brandon) Elizalde of Rochester, MN; Jacob Ostreng of Lake Mills, WI; Rebecca (Justin) Dean of La Crosse, WI; Benton Blank of Fargo, ND; Kendra (Levi) Gilmore of Spring Valley, MN; Avery (Aaron) Frick of La Crosse, WI; Carter (Anna) Hale of Spring Valley, MN; two great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.

She is further survived by her sister, Sheryl Ness of Holmen, WI; brother Alan (Susan) Bluske of La Crosse, WI; and brothers-in-law Donald (Janice) Ostreng of Onalaska, WI, and Michael (Donna) Ostreng of Wichita, KS.

She is preceded in death by her parents Willard and Delores (Christianson) Bluske.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 26, 2026 from 5-7 pm at the Schumacher- Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 27, 2026 at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 2720 South 26th Street, La Crosse, WI. Friends may visit for an hour before the service.

Memorials may be given to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Children’s Miracle Network, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
