Larry P. Cooper, 59, of Independence, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
Larry was born in Onalaska on October 31, 1966, to Leonard and Shirley Cooper. He attended school in Holmen and graduated from Holmen High School.
Larry worked at Ohly Americas in Boyceville, WI, since January 2020. Prior to that, he worked at Pilgrim’s, formerly known as Gold’n Plump, in Arcadia, WI, from March 1996 until January 2020.
Larry was a proud father who loved being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He looked forward to the annual family camping trips and enjoyed camping throughout the year. He spent thousands of miles on his motorcycle exploring the country. He also enjoyed fishing from his boat during the summer and ice fishing during the winter.
Larry is survived by his children, Andrew (Kimberly Johnson) Cooper, Austin (Erin) Cooper, and Alyssa (Collin) Paulsen; seven grandchildren, Lily, Maci, Wesley, Elliott, Shirley, Kinsley, and Ellie; his siblings, Bob (Cathy) Cooper and Kathy (Bob) Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Adam Cooper; his parents, Leonard and Shirley Cooper; and several aunts and uncles.
A graveside committal service will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the Onalaska City Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Larry’s Life from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Pettibone Resort, 333 Park Plaza Dr, La Crosse, WI 54601, on Saturday the 22nd as well.
