Lillian J. Karbula

Lillian J. Karbula, 91, of La Crescent, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She was born on June 29, 1930 in Bluff Siding, WI to Frederick and Lilly (Pengra) Bess. She married James Karbula on May 23, 1953 in First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse by Pastor Fritz Miller. Lillian enjoyed card club, lunch with friends, reading, and volunteering, especially counseling cancer patients.

She is survived by two children, David (Jayne) Karbula of Waupun, WI and Karen (Al) Lopez of Junction, TX, grandchildren, Megan (Steven) Carswell of Atlanta, Shannon Jetton and Michael Jetton of Junction, TX, Zachary (Brenna) Karbula of Onalaska, Matthew (Danielle) Karbula of La Crosse, and Jacob (fiance’ Kayla) of La Crosse, great-grandchildren, Christian James Karbula and Olivia Marie Karbula, a brother Rodney Bess of Genoa, WI., several nieces and nephews, and a special friend Allen Lee of La Crescent. She was preceded in death by her husband James, A son Eric, her parents, sisters, Luella Wisehart, Laverne Samb, and Bernice “Bunny” Thompson, and brothers Everett, Ralph, Ronald, and Fred Bess.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Mark Rieke officiating.
