Lorraine McIlraith, age 92 of La Crosse, WI passed away on Thursday, December 19th, 2024. She was born September 5th, 1932, in Davenport, Iowa to Lucretia Marie (McMahill) and Caesar Salato and married to Stuart Morton McIlraith September 3rd, 1960. She is survived by sons Kirk (Sue) and Thomas (Paula), grandchildren Marcus, Percival and Connor; step-granddaughter Jean Johnson (Todd), Step-great grandchildren Joshua and Jenna Johnson. She is predeceased by her husband Stuart; son Eric and sister Sylvia Salato Mills.
Lorraine received her bachelor’s degree from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ, and the University of Iowa.
Lorraine retired after 10 years as Secretary in the Small Business Development Center UW-La Crosse. She taught 10 years at First Congregational Church Nursery School, was past president and volunteer for Friends of the Symphony, a longtime member, soloist and board member of the UW-La Crosse Choral Union, volunteered for Friends of the Library, Causeway Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, American Cancer Society Reach for Recover, Great River Festival of the Arts, La Crosse Community Theater, Community Concert Board and Learning in Retirement.
Lorraine was always up for fun and was blessed with many friends and family. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at First Congregational Church, 2503 Main Street, La Crosse, WI 54601. Visitation: 1pm-3pm with celebration of life service: 3pm.
