Lynn Edward “Butch” Ceason was born October 4, 1941, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Fred and Margaret (Culbert) Ceason. He died at his home on February 5, 2026.

Lynn and the love of his life, Ellen Hegenbart,h celebrated 62 years of marriage in June 2025. They built a loving family, including 4 daughters: Sandi, Kelli, Kristi, and Jodi. They managed to raise their four girls in a one-bathroom house! Their family eventually expanded to include their two beloved grandchildren. Lynn retired from UW-La Crosse after 40 years. He continued to meet up with several of his co-workers/friends for golfing and breakfasts.

Lynn and his family spent many vacations camping and were big card players. Until the pandemic, Lynn and Ellen spent their winters in Arizona. Lynn loved to golf and to do woodworking in his shed. He made beautiful Christmas ornaments, bowls, pens, and other items for his family and friends. He loved to pet his dog, Walter, and all of his grand-dogs.

Lynn is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen; his children, Sandi Weber, Kelli Redfearn, Kristi Ceason, and Jodi Ceason; his son-in-law, John Theisen, and daughter’s partner, Dave Scott; grandchildren Maggi Weber and Zachary Redfearn (Sky Smiley), his brother Mike Ceason, sisters-in-law Julie Ceason and Hansie Hegenbarth; many nieces and nephews and his dog Walter.

He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Babe Mooney, Norb Hegenbarth, Greg Hegenbarth, and Chet Miller; sisters-in-law Marian Mooney, Clarie Miller, Nita Bluske, Marnie Hegenbarth and Sue Hegenbarth; and son-in-law Fred Weber.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse. A private family burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later time.
