Marilyn J. Williams

Marilyn J. (Wilder) Williams, 91, of La Crosse, died on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Benedictine Manor in La Crosse. She was born on October 5, 1934 in La Crosse to Elmer and Eleanor (Hase) Wilder. She married William “Bill” Williams on February 21, 1953 in Veedersburg, IN. Marilyn spent 25 years working as a housekeeper at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse. She was a member of the La Crosse Eagles #1254 Auxiliary for over 30 years. She lived for her pets and was an all around animal lover. She loved to go on cruises, cheer on the Brewers, and was an avid gardener. She also loved to hand embroider, which she could sit and do for hours. The love of her life was her grandchildren and she always had cookies for them.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Barbara (Eric) Sorenson of Onalaska and Thomas Williams of La Crosse; five grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Kabat of Monument, CO, Laurie (Chris) McMartin of The Woodlands, TX, Megan Sorenson of Eau Claire, Amy Sorenson currently of Boston, MA, and Andrew (Britta) Sorenson of Hopkins, MN; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Alexa, Ava, Sarah, Bode, Bergen, and Jordy; and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter-in-law, Kathy Williams; sister, Beverly Wilder; and several nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church in La Crosse. Father Mike McElwee will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Marilyn's family would like to thank the staff at Benedictine Manor for the care they provided for Marilyn. She truly loved the time she spent there.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to Christ Episcopal Church in La Crosse or Gundersen Hospice.
