Marion J. Christiansen, 101, of Galesville, WI passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. Marion was born to Frederick and Gitilia Melvina “Tillie” Rohrer in La Crosse, WI on December 9, 1924. She was the youngest of 4 children. She has been a resident at Marinuka Manor in Galesville for almost 2 years.
Marion was born and raised on La Crosse’s north side. She graduated from Logan High School in 1942. She worked at the Gage after high school. She met George D. Christiansen on a blind date, and the two married in June 1955. After moving to Galesville, she became a longtime employee of the Bank of Galesville.
Over the years she enjoyed bowling, square dancing, needle point, playing cards, and dominos, making greeting cards on her computer, and making quilts. In her later years she loved sharing her remembrance of local genealogy and history.
Marion is survived by her son George (Chris) Christiansen, daughter-in-law Paula Sullivan Christiansen, grandsons Steven and James Christiansen, and great-grandchildren Jayden, and Katie.
She was preceded in death by her husband George, her son James (JC), and her siblings Vivian Tate, Fred Rohrer, and Helen Banasik.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Galesville with details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Gundersen Medical Foundation for the Cancer Research Fund. Memorial gifts can be made online at gundersenhealth.org/foundation.
Marion’s family graciously thanks the wonderful staff of Marinuka Manor, and the amazing staffs of (formerly) Mayo Hospice and most recently Gundersen Hospice for incredible compassionate care each provided.
