Marlene A. Shimanski, born on October 28, 1940, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at the age of 84. Marlene’s life was marked by a profound commitment to her family and a marriage that beautifully spanned 55 years, reflecting a legacy of love and partnership that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Marlene’s life was one of quiet dedication. Her steadfast presence was a cornerstone of her family, providing them with unwavering support and a loving home. The longevity of her marriage stands as a testament to her deep commitment and affection, qualities that imbued every aspect of her life and touched all those she encountered.
She was preceded in death by James Shimanski who surely greeted her with love and open arms upon her arrival. Marlene’s legacy will be carried forward by those she leaves behind: Sons, Jason (Michelle) Shimanski of Wausau WI, Justin Shimanski of Wauwatosa WI, Grandchildren Alexander, Katelynn and Sophia, Sister Carol, Sister-in law Kathy Cherf, nephews Michael Thrun, James Cherf, David Walsh and niece Susan Newberry. She was preceded in death by her husband James, parents Reuben and Bernice, brothers-in-law Gary Thrun, Thomas Cherf and Robert Shimanski.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday Aug. 1, 2025 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 S. 13th St., La Crosse, WI. Father Rick Roberts will celebrate the mass. The burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service.
