On May 21st, 2025, Mary Ann Gabrielson — allegedly 92, though she insisted for many years that she was “39 and holding” — left this earth to join some of her beloved family members beyond.
Mary Ann was born in La Crosse to Charlotte (Will) and Paul Schwabenbauer. Known for being the life of the party, she had a sharp wit that kept everyone on their toes. Her presence was like a burst of fireworks on a dark night — bright, bold, and unforgettable.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving daughter Tammy Pete; granddaughter Felicia; sister Joan (Sherman) Stegen; brother Joseph (Arlene) Schwabenbauer; and nephew Randy.
She is survived by her daughter Lynn Keller; son Randy Gabrielson (Cindy Hutton); grandchildren Katelyn Keller and Frankie Keller; great-granddaughter Autumn Gilson; brother Charles (Ruth) Schwabenbauer; sisters Donna (Bob) Lapp, Diane (Tim) Niebuhr, and Kathy (Ken) Williams; many cherished nieces and nephews; and her exceptional son-in-law, Sam Pete.
A gathering to celebrate Mary Ann’s life will be held on Friday, May 30th, 2025 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse. A graveside service, officiated by Fr. Robert Letona, will follow at Catholic Cemetery, 519 Losey Boulevard, La Crosse. Afterward, all are welcome to join the family for lunch at the Moose Lodge, 1932 Ward Avenue, La Crosse.
