Mary Ella (Davies) Humm, age 86, passed away peacefully at Caretta Memory Care on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025.

Mary was born at Fort Riley, Kansas, on August 19th, 1939, to Frank and Minnie Davies.

After graduating from high school in 1957, Mary went on to attend Clark’s Business School in Topeka, KS. Her first job was at the Department of Agriculture in Topeka, Kansas. She then worked in the civil service doing secretarial duties at Fort Riley in Junction City, Kansas. This is where she met her future husband, Jerry Humm, on a blind date. She was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest daughter was 12, and then she went to work at the La Crosse County Library. She enjoyed 26 years of employment there.

Mary is survived by her children: Ron (Rhonda), Sally (Steve), and Nancy (Mark); her grandchildren: Kristen, Carrie, Emily, John, Marissa, and Ian. She is also survived by her two great-grandchildren, Emma and Elias. In addition, she is also survived by her twin sister, Margaret (Larry) Dacus of Junction City, KS; sister-in-law, Sharon Davies of Benton, MO; brother-in-law, Don Humm; sister-in-law, Jean (Marv) Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; brothers: John and Bill Davies; sister, Ava Lea Denton; sisters-in-law: Cindy Davies, Karen Humm, and Ella Mae Humm; brothers-in-law, Jack Denton and Roy Humm.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1500 Sand Lake Road in Holmen. Pastor Gregory Pope will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service, which starts at 11:00 am. Private burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse later in the day. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the loving and caring nursing staff at Caretta Senior Living, along with Emplify Hospice Care.
