Mavis A. Kruckow

Mavis Anita (Rosendahl) Kruckow, 85, of Hokah, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born on July 7, 1940 in Spring Grove, MN to Arthur and Margaret (Drivold) Rosendahl. Mavis graduated from Houston High School in 1958. On August 15, 1959, she married Lyle Kruckow and together they raised three children, Eric, Karen, and Douglas.

Mavis worked at the courthouse in Caledonia in the Register of Deeds office, the La Crescent Elementary School, and Thomas Heating & Plumbing before finishing her working career as a secretary at Ace Hardware. She worked at Ace for 17 years from 1986 – 2003 when she was forced to retire due to illness.

Mavis loved spending time with family and friends. She took pride in remembering everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries. She enjoyed cooking and loved hosting holidays, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Mavis is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lyle; children, Eric (Sharon) Kruckow, Karen Van Orman (Jay), and Douglas (Jenny) Kruckow; seven grandchildren, Christina (Matt) Putnam, Skylar O’Flaherty, Jimmy (Caroline) Kruckow, Travis (Amanda) Kruckow, Jessica Kruckow, Angela Kruckow, and Jacob Kruckow; two great grandchildren, Ryder Kruckow and Blakeliegh Kruckow; siblings, Carol Meiners, Terry (Julie) Rosendahl, and Nancy Von Arx.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Roger Rosendahl.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hokah, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday evening at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crescent and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Reverend John Wolff will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hokah.
