Mavis E. Littlejohn, 96, of La Crosse, passed away February 19, 2026, at Riverside Transitional Care, surrounded by loved ones. She was born April 26, 1929, in Rushford, Minnesota, to Adolph and Elva (Halvorson) Evenson.
She graduated from Rushford High School in 1947. She married Edward G. Littlejohn Sr., and they later divorced.
Mavis worked as a seamstress at La Crosse Garment Factory, later known as The Company Store, for 37 years. Mavis was renowned for her quilts. Sewing quilts was her favorite pastime and gifting them to all her favorite people brought great joy. She loved dancing, country music, and trips to the casino. She also loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and great, great-grandkids.
Mavis is survived by three children, Eliot (Nadine) Littlejohn of La Crosse, WI, Gregory (Sandra) of Brownsville, MN, and Marsha Smith of La Crosse, WI. She is also survived by daughters-in-law Karen Littlejohn and Kimberly Littlejohn.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Evenson and his wife Helen, a sister, Karen Laganiere and her husband Louie, and two sons, Edward Littlejohn Jr and Bradley Littlejohn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Schumacher-Kish in La Crosse, WI. Chaplin Laura will officiate, and the burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hokah, MN. Friends and relatives may visit with the family at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Riverside Transitional Care and to the staff of Emplify Hospice for the great care that they gave to their mother.
