Melissa L. Coelin

Jul 27, 1971 — Oct 25, 2026

West Salem, WI

Melissa Coelin, 55, of West Salem, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at UW Health in Madison, Wisconsin surrounded by her loving children.

Born in Janesville, Wisconsin, Melissa was a graduate of Logan High School. She was a kind and caring person who loved her family, her many friends, and cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers. She had a natural green thumb and found joy in caring for plants and animals. Melissa had an infectious giggle that could brighten a room, and her warmth and laughter brought joy to those around her. She had a heart for helping others and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Throughout her years working in retail, Melissa formed many lasting friendships and built meaningful connections within her community. Her generosity, compassion, and caring nature touched the lives of so many, and she will be remembered for the kindness she showed to others.

Melissa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Coelin, 62, who passed away just nine days before her (married 2/25/2005). Though their loved ones are heartbroken by their loss, there is comfort in knowing that Melissa and Dave are reunited once again.

She is survived by her daughter, Mackensie, and son-in-law, Mitch, of Marietta, Georgia; her son, Joshua, of La Crosse, Wisconsin; Sister-in-law, Kathleen Nontelle of La Crosse, Uncle Ron Larson of La Crosse, and the many friends and loved ones whose lives she touched.

Melissa will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her caring heart, her signature giggle, her love of family and friends, and the compassion she showed to everyone she met. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A public graveside service for both David and Melissa will be held at Neshonoc Cemetery on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at 11:00AM. Flowers can be sent to Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home in La Crosse. Please be sure to have floral deliveries delivered by 9:30AM Thursday.
