Michelle Lynn Beck

Michelle Lynn Beck, 59, of La Crosse, WI, passed away on September 2, 2025, unexpectedly.

Michelle was born on December 19, 1966, in Puerto Rico at an American naval base. She was the daughter of Dennis Beck and Karen Zimny (McCafferty).

Michelle graduated from Holmen High School in 1985, then went on to Southwestern Technical College, earning an associate’s degree in nursing in 2000.

Michelle worked as a Nurse at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, Benedictine Assisted Living, and the Tomah VA Medical Center. Michelle was very proud of being a nurse and was noted by coworkers as being a good, kind, caring nurse who enjoyed serving others.

Michelle especially loved spending time with her family and her grandson, Quinten, as well as her dog, Rey. She was a passionate Green Bay Packers fan and lover of the Star Wars movie series. She enjoyed listening to 80s music, and some of her favorites included Billy Joel, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Supertramp.

Favorite memories of Michelle’s included raising her three boys in Prairie du Chien, taking family vacations to Florida and Ohio, and spending time on the Mississippi River both in Prairie du Chien and as a girl growing up in the La Crosse area. She enjoyed travelling to her boys’ sporting events and watching her son Cole perform as Winthrop Paroo in The Music Man as a young boy.

Michelle is survived by sons, Alex (Colleen) Stormoen, Cole Stormoen, Sam (Megan) Stormoen; grandchild, Quinten Stormoen; sisters/stepsisters, Jamie Beck, Rebecca Rieber, Anna Becker; and her dear friend Kevin O’Brien.

Preceding Michelle in death are parents/stepparents, Dennis Beck, Pamela Beck, Karen Zimny (McCafferty), and Robert Zimny.

A Celebration of Michelle’s life will be held on October 16, 2025, from 1-4 pm at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave, La Crosse, WI.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michelle’s memory may be directed to Franciscan Spirituality Center.
