Patricia Ann O'Donnell

Patricia Ann O’Donnell, 89, went to celebrate Easter in Heaven on Sunday, April 20, 2025 after hearing the hymn “Christ the LORD is Risen Today”.

She was born on March 4, 1936 in Madison, WI to Stanley and Claudine (Harbort) Rinden. As a child, Patricia was blessed with many special memories from her Harbort grandparents and grandma "Beauty Shop". She graduated from Madison East High School in 1954. On April 16, 1955 Patricia married Kenneth E. O’Donnell. They raised their family; Pamela (Gary) O’Donnell, Daniel O’Donnell (deceased), and Penelope (Bert deceased) Bateman in Monona, WI.

Mom worked as a bookkeeper for many years and was also a wonderful homemaker. She loved to sew her girls’ clothes, decorate cakes, plant petunias, and gave us all a love for camping. Whatever her kids were doing, she was involved in it. She also enjoyed bowling and reading a lot of books.

In 1979, Mom had her dream come true by our parents moving to Fort Myers, FL for over 40 years. She continued to enjoy her love of baseball with the MN Twins Spring training games, watching football, basketball and hockey. She enjoyed playing bingo every Tuesday night, shuffleboard, Mahjong and cards. With all these activities, mom was known as “Purple Pat” for her love of the color purple. She also loved all the cruises she went on with Dad until his passing in 2020.

The last four years were a true blessing to have mom move to La Crosse, WI. We enjoyed so many times together sharing lunch, watching ‘The Price is Right’, the Brewers and special talks. She also loved seeing her grandchildren and great-granddaughters more for holidays, birthday parties, and trips to Rudy’s. Thank you for all the memories, Mom!

Mom is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Matthew, Khara, and Joshua Schmelzer; Ben O’Donnell, Emily (Kyle) Anderson, Nicole (Chad) Kendall and Peter (Danielle) Bateman; six great-grandchildren: Ellie, Bailey and Brooklyn Kendall, Tristan and Kaeleigh Schmelzer, and Maeva Bateman. Sisters: Bonnie (Leigh) Zeckzer and Deborah (Michael deceased) Smith.

Memorial Service will be on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:30 am at La Crescent Ev. Free Church, 1675 County Rd. 6, La Crescent, MN. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison, WI.
