Patricia "Pat" A. Payne

Patricia A. “Pat” Payne, 86, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Her husband John H. Payne, 87, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Pat was born in La Crosse on August 31, 1938 in La Crosse to Raynor and Mildred (Christensen) Peart. She graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1956 and married John Payne on September 20, 1958. He was the love of her life and best friend for their 66-year marriage.

Pat is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey J. (Rose) of St. Paul, MN and Timothy D. (Kim) of Prescott, WI, six grandchildren, Katie (Nate) Williams, Kellie (fiancé Stephan Nordeng) Payne, Curtis “C.J.” (Taylor) Payne, Zak Payne, Tyler Payne, and Andy Payne, four great-grandchildren, Emma Williams, Alice “Ali” Williams, Caleb Nordeng, and Sydney Payne. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, her stepfather Bernard Burcum, her sister Valarie (Jack) Otto, and her favorite uncle, Dick Christensen.

A Memorial service for Pat and John will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Pastor Harald Bringsjord will officiate. Burials will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Children’s Miracle Network, the Mississippi Valley Conservancy, or a charity of your choice.
