Richard W. “Butch” Bauer, 53, of Nodine, Minnesota, was called to his heavenly home on August 20th, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones at home, after a seven-month battle with metastatic renal cell carcinoma.
He was born on June 16, 1972, to Bob and Rosella (Proudfoot) Bauer.
On September 30, 1995, Butch was united in marriage with Bridget (Steinfeldt). He was a hardworking family man, deeply dedicated to those he loved. Butch spent many years as a dairy farmer before taking a job in town, while continuing to raise beef cattle.
Butch is survived by his loving wife, Bridget, and their four children: Samantha (Taylor), Ricky, Kolby, and Karlie. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved dogs: Skye, Storm and Nellie; his sisters, Betty (Randy) and Brenda (Randy); his brother, Bobby (Jennifer); as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Linda (Joe) Votruba; father-in-law, Fred (Deb) Steinfeldt; sister-in-law, Brandy Steinfeldt; and brother-in-law, Mike (Michele) Steinfeldt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, many aunts and uncles, and his dear friend, Eddie Brague.
Butch’s legacy of hard work, love, and devotion to his family and his passion for sports will be fondly remembered by all who knew him
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Nodine. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crescent on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
