Obituary

Ricky Edward Tamminga, known affectionately as Rick to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on March 15, 1958, to the late Ted and Joyce Tamminga in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Rick was a man of intellectual curiosity and analytical in nature. His passing in Holmen, Wisconsin, marks the end of a life lived with an unwavering commitment to his family.

Rick graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished career as a Chemical Engineer at WE Energies, where he dedicated his entire professional career. His colleagues respected him for his innovative problem-solving skills, sarcastic sense of humor, and his ability to distill complex concepts into understandable terms.

Beyond his professional life, Rick was a man who embraced the beauty of the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, always in search of elusive big bluegills, and a seasoned hunter with a particular affinity for large Wisconsin Whitetail “Bux.” Playing softball, baseball, traveling to Sprint Car races across WI and horse races at Arlington Park in his early years was replaced in retirement by the love of watching all sports on his big 70” screen tv.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jodi; daughter, Michelle (Tim) Robers; son, Matt (Morgan) Tamminga; brother, Rory (Diane) Tamminga; grandchildren, Ava, Aila, and Ryland Robers, and Tate Tamminga; sisters-in-law, Robin (Bobby) Hugasian, and Linda (Don) VanSwol, and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Thaddeus “Ted” Tamminga; mother, Joyce Tamminga; stepmother, Nancy Tamminga; his Best Friend, Beckham; and multiple aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held in Burlington WI, announced at a later date. Donations made in remembrance of Rick can be made to the Holmen Area Community Center.
