Robert ‘Bob’ Beranek, 67, of La Crosse, WI passed away peacefully on May 13th, 2025.
Bob was born on February 7th, 1958 in La Crosse, WI. In his youth he was a skilled athlete and loved playing football. After graduating from Holmen High School, he went to work at a number of La Crosse manufacturers. Bob spent many of his best years as a chemical dependency counselor at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital. Through his own life-long struggle with addiction, he helped so many others on their own personal journey with addiction, recovery, and healing through compassion and understanding. His true calling in life was helping others.
Bob was bursting with joy when he married Sue Kantowski in 1990, making a family with her and her daughter, Kate. He took enormous pride and incredible pleasure in each of Kate's accomplishments as she grew up over the years.
After retirement, Bob enjoyed hobbies including: golfing, riding his bicycle, petting cats, and debating politics with everyone.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Beranek, and his parents, Geri Kampmeier and Wesley Beranek. He is survived by his daughter, Kate (Mitch) Schooler, brothers James Beranek and John (Gail) Kampmeier, sisters Sharon (Tom MacLennan) Batterman and Susan (Mark) Anderson, many nieces and nephews, and a couple spoiled grand (cat) children.
