Roger L. Wick, aged 74, passed away on February 17, 2026, in his hometown of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Born on December 17, 1951, to Wilbert and Dorothy (Schoen) Wick.

He graduated from Aquinas High School. Roger worked alongside his father at Wicks Well Drilling, where his passion for his work led him to become a skilled Journeyman Plumber and Fitter for the next 35 years until his health had him retire early.

In 1998, Roger married the love of his life, Carol Johnson, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse. Together, they crafted a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Roger and Carol enjoyed traveling, visiting casinos, and camping at Lake Neshonoc in West Salem, WI. Their Friday date nights were sacred, spent watching Gunsmoke, Jeopardy, and the news, a testament to their deep bond and shared joys.

Roger was a man of many passions. An avid NASCAR enthusiast, he never missed a race and was a loyal supporter of Packer and Badger football. He was a regular at the "Gas Station Gang" meetups at Larry’s Gas Station in La Crosse, where he was known for his sense of humor.

In his free time, Roger found great joy and treasured every moment spent with his only grandson and best bud, Cody. When Cody was young, the two shared countless activities and adventures together. It didn’t make a difference if they were engaged in a competitive game of Candyland or Sorry, leisurely driving along a scenic path to catch a glimpse of the horses out running in the pasture, savoring a campfire at their favorite campsite, or Grandpa Roger showing Cody the joys of jumping in mud puddles after a summer rain. The connection they had was truly one of a kind.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his stepson, Jason, and his girlfriend, Jeanie Stevens; his grandson, Cody, and his girlfriend, Kennedy Skogen. He leaves behind his loving sisters, Mary Kolkind and Julie (Bob) Bronkhorst; sisters-in-law Vera Wick, Sharon (Lee) Goeke, and Paula Johnson Woolley, and her special friend, Dan Ask; brother-in-law Steven (Roxie) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored him. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Butch and Tom Wick, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Spencer and Janice Johnson, along with numerous aunts and uncles.

Roger’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Benedictine Manor for the compassionate care they have provided over the past eight years. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Lee and her hospice care team at Gundersen for their kindness to Roger and his family during his final days.

A Celebration of Life for Roger will be announced at a later date. Further details will be provided as they become available, celebrating a life well-lived and deeply cherished by many. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the family or a charity of your choosing.
