Shannon Lee Olson, 37, of Nodine, was greeted by her father in Heaven on May 27, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 25, 1988, to Roger and Linda (Brown) Olson, Shannon attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran School and graduated from La Crescent-Hokah Senior High School in 2006. Throughout her life, Shannon held several jobs, including serving as a Mindoro First Responder, but she was always drawn to caring for others. Most recently, she worked as a Pre-Op Technician at Gundersen Health System, where she formed strong bonds with her supportive co-workers and patients alike.
Beyond her professional life, Shannon loved growing flowers, thrifting, collecting shoes, and cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Bears, among many other things. She will be remembered for her generous and loving spirit, her loyalty as a daughter, family member, and friend, her bravery and strength, and above all, her unwavering love for her daughter, Alaynah.
Shannon was deeply appreciative of everyone who supported her through the good days, bad days, and every day in between. As she often said, she could not have done it without all of you. Shannon specifically requested a special thank you to her palliative care nurse, Sara. The family would also like to thank Shannon’s oncology staff and Dr. Oettel for the compassionate care they provided.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger; her maternal and paternal grandparents; Auntie “Uncle” Deb; and many other beloved family members who have now wrapped their arms around her once again.
Shannon is survived by the light of her life, her daughter, Alaynah; her siblings, RJ and Nathan; her mother, Linda, who was the best friend she could have ever asked for; her nephew, Ryder; her nieces, Cora and Sylvi; along with numerous cherished family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at the St. John’s Lutheran School gymnasium in Nodine, MN on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon until the time of service.
