Sharon K. Jirsa, 87, of La Crosse, died on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She was born on July 21, 1939 in La Crosse to Milton and Lillian (Spika) Larson. She married Eugene “Gene” Jirsa on August 29, 1959 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in La Crosse. Sharon worked as an account representative at Gundersen Credit Union for 30 years. She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she served as an usher and was a member of St. Anne’s Altar Society. Sharon loved to bowl and was a member of the Wisconsin Bowling Association and the 600 Club. She also enjoyed golfing, taking walks and reading. She was an avid Green Bay Packers, Brewers, and Badger fan.
She is survived by her husband Gene, a daughter Nancy Jirsa-Kumm of Onalaska, two sons, Gregory and Mark, both of La Crosse, four grandchildren, Hanna Jirsa of Onalaska, Laura Jirsa of Louisville, KY, Brianna Kumm of Onalaska, and Travis Kumm San Diego, CA, two sisters, Janice (Leo) Hammes of Sterling, IL and Mary Jean (Mike) Sheffer of La Crosse, a brother Thomas (Margie) Larson of Onalaska, an aunt, Lorraine Hanson of La Crosse, a sister-in-law Mary Larson of Three Rivers, MI and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Richard Larson, Donald Larson, and James Larson, a daughter-in-law Kathleen Jirsa, her father and mother-in-law, John Sr. and Marie Jirsa, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Betty Jirsa, John Jr. and Marilyn Jirsa, and Al and Barbara Gutzel, a nephew tom Jirsa, and several aunts and uncles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Father Rick Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
