Shirley Jean Nagle

Shirley Jean Nagle, 91, of Nodine, MN passed away on Wednesday, October 7th at La Crescent Health Services, surrounded by her family.

Shirley was born in La Crosse on April 5th, 1935, to Esther and Otto Dobrunz. She grew up in Dakota, MN with her 8 brothers and sisters.

Shirley graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1953 and married Gordon Nagle on June 13th, 1953. They built their home and moved to the farm in Nodine shortly after. Gordon and Shirley were married for 50 years until he died in January of 2004. They had 8 children; Mary Jo, Roger, Pattie, Corrine, Larry, Dawn, Alan and Gordon.

She enjoyed playing poker with her siblings, playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley was a homemaker and known for her excellent cooking and also packed apples at local orchards in the fall.

Shirley is survived by her children, Mary Jo (Marvin) Mades, Pattie Nagle, Corrine (Loren) Molling, Larry Nagle, Alan Nagle and Gordon (Becky) Nagle.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sherry Koenig (Trey) and Mike Mades, Paul Molling, Patrick (Kristi) Molling, Phillip (Heather) Molling, Brenda (Joe) Barry and Barb (Jesse) Isbell, Cheyenne (David) Myer, Chelsea (Mitchell) Lakowske, Abby Nagle, Ava Nagle and AJ Nagle, Kayli (Eric) Hart, Charlie (Breah) Nagle and Calvin (Lauryn) Nagle.

She is further survived by her great-grandchildren Meghan (Geoffrey) Bissen (and baby-to-be), Nick Hawkins and his son Hudson, Madison Koenig, Emma, Lily and Owen Mades, Charlotte, Keallie and Logan Molling, Samantha, Joshua and Sophia Molling, Samuel and Sierra Rogich, Lauren Barry, Cece and Annmarie Lakowske, Evelyn and Hank Myer, Mylo Nagle, Z’va Nagle and Violet Hart.

Shirley is also survived by her sister Carol Papenfuss, brother Steven (Lynn) Dobrunz, brother-in-law Charles Koehler, sister-in-law Mary Ann Dobrunz, and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Otto Dobrunz, husband Gordon and children Roger and Dawn. She was also preceded by her sister Lorraine Hill and husband Irvin, sister Betty Straight and husband Ron, brothers Marvin Dobrunz and his wife Marlene, Ray Dobrunz, Gordon Dobrunz and his wife Lorena and Dennis Dobrunz and his wife Bev, brother-in-law Pat Papenfuss, mother and father-in-law Jo & Violet Nagle, brothers and sisters-in-law Shadow and Lilah Solen, Stanley (Pink) and Cindy, and Joanne Koelher.

Pall bearers will be Paul Molling, Patrick Molling, Phillip Molling, Mike Mades, Charlie Nagle and Calvin Nagle.
