Stanley Brent Howe II was born on May 17, 1981, in Appleton, Wisconsin, and lived 44 years in a way that was entirely his own. He passed away on April 19, 2026.
Stan was someone people noticed. He had a way of drawing others in—quick with a joke, ready with a story, and was usually in the middle of whatever was going on. He came up with ideas most people wouldn’t attempt and went after them without much hesitation. That willingness to try, to risk a little, and to see what might happen was a big part of who he was.
He graduated from Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wisconsin and worked as a general contractor. He liked building things, working hard, and figuring things out as he went along. Sometimes this worked and sometimes it didn’t. But it was always authentically Stan.
Stan cared deeply about his family. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie (Stokke) Howe; his children, Willow Howe and Winston Howe; his stepchildren, Wyatt Becker and Waylon Becker; his siblings, Carla Howe, April Howe, Jessica Luhman, Janis (Jason) Copsey, James Luhman, Jennifer Meyers, and Michael (Samantha) Arentz; his stepfather, Ricky Luhman, and many others who knew him well and will carry their own memories of him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Ilene (Stang) Luhman and Stanley Brent Howe I.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Those who knew Stanley are invited to come share stories and remember him in their own way.
