Stella Marie Doud, 73, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, surrounded by her children.
Stella was the eldest daughter of 6 kids. She was born on May 12, 1952, to Leonard (Bud) Nicolas Doud and Rosie Bloom in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Mom liked to color outside of the lines and did things her way. As a little girl, her biggest dream was to be a cowboy. She was heartbroken when people told her that she couldn’t be a cowboy because she was a girl. After high school, Stella raised a family and also attended school at WTC and UW-L in the 1980s, where she studied Anthropology and Women's Studies with her little sister, Rosa Doud. They were 2 peas in a pod. Mom married Rosevelt Robinson in the early 1970s and had 4 children. She and Rosevelt divorced in 1979, and years later, she remarried her first love from high school, John Blumer. They were married until he passed in 2011.
Mom worked several jobs throughout the years, but her biggest gig was being a mother and grandmother, and teaching her children and closest loved ones important life lessons; bestowing knowledge about how to be a good human. Mom would buy a homeless person a sandwich with her last $5. That’s just how she was, and she did not care what others thought about it. Mom was an inspiration for her children and served as a strong support and advocate for education. Mom helped us write some of our first-term papers when we went to college. Mom’s most recent job was one that she loved and enjoyed when she worked as an office manager and billing & coding specialist for her daughter’s therapy practice until macular degeneration set in and took most of her sight. Mom had a handful of medical struggles and complications leading up to her passing, but her soul is stronger than the body, and she shines brighter than anyone we’ve ever known.
Mom’s greatest passions were to spend time with family, work online with her computer projects, refurbish old computers, play cards, sing songs, and tell jokes. She was instrumental in helping raise some of her grandchildren, never feeling burdened by having to step in and help when we needed it. Thank you, Mom for everything and we will always love you.
Stella is survived by her 4 children: Rosa Hill, Donald Robinson-Dahl, Daniel Robinson, and Ronda Henderson (Wille). Stella is also survived by her sisters Beth Morganett and Susie Manske (Chuck), sister-in-law Mary Doud, grandsons Dylan, Jesse, Jaxon, & Aveer, granddaughter Erika, great-grandson Max, step-grandsons Wille III, & Jai-Quan, and step-granddaughter Aiden. Stella is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Chrissy, Ky, Nee Nee, & Rozzy; Patrick & Jessica, Andy & Phillip, Bo, Jamal & Miani, Claire & Kathy, and her amazing
caregiver and longtime family friend, Missie. Stella is also survived by several more nieces, nephews, and cousins who thought the world of her and will deeply miss her.
Stella was preceded in death by both parents, Bud and Rosie, husband John Blumer, ex-husband Rosevelt Robinson, 2 infant sons, Leonard (Buddy) Robinson & Bert Robinson, siblings Eugene Doud, Roger Doud, and baby sister Rosa Doud. A private family service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
