Theodora A. Lapitz

Theodora A. Lapitz (Renner), age 94, of La Crosse, passed away on Wednesday, May 6th, at Bethany Riverside Transitional Care. She was born on January 22nd, 1932, to Frank and Louise Renner in La Crosse, WI. Theo grew up in La Crosse and, in her young years, relocated to Marshalltown, IA.

Theo was her father's favorite helper at Renner’s Flower Shop in Marshalltown, IA. From the age of 7, Theo’s love of floral arranging started early and lasted her whole life. Theo married Theodore Lapitz Jr on April 7th, 1956, at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral. They were married for 52 years until Ted’s passing in 2008. Theo and Ted had 4 children: Regina (Craig) Oliver, Mary (Doug) Thesing, Lynn (Jeff) Johnson, Lisa (Jay) Jelen. Theo had numerous grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and numerous grand puppies.

Theo will always be remembered for her true love of a good book, watching nature, sharing stories, nummy chocolates, bird watching, and a passion for plants. After raising her daughters, Theo worked many years for La Crosse Floral and then owned Pittengers Floral Shop for several years until retirement.

Theo is very loved by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all of the pups. We are very proud to have found Mom peace and comfort in her last years at Bethany Riverside.

In consideration of Theo’s wishes, a private, immediate family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
